First Post – Padstow May Day April 25th, 2012

Not long now until Padstow May Day. It is held on the 1st May and is truly a spectacle to behold. The men, women and children of Padstow take to the streets dressed in their whites, armed with their melodiums and drums, following their beloved ‘obby ‘oss. There is a red ‘os (the old ‘oss), and a blue ‘oss (the peace ‘oss), that whirls and dances through the narrow streets to the incredible beat of the May Song. The streets are adorned with flags and trees, as well as the beautiful maypole. This is an ancient pagan fertility festival – beware if you get taken underneath the ‘oss. I was seized twice one year, and now have twins!!

We still have some availability for that week, so as a special incentive we’ll give you a £50 discount. It may come in handy for all the merry making that goes hand in hand with Padtow May Day.
